Description

The Lacerta

The lost continent of Mu held the ancient reptilian people known as the Lacerta, the evolution of the reptilian people. Their culture was unparalleled, but their people did not thirst for power or land. It was at Atlantis, the northeastern most port of Mu, where the only contact with humans was allowed, that the trouble began. The greed, self gratification and lust that humanity naturally possessed was working its way into the Lacerta culture. After centuries of peace, and tranquility, the long lived race experienced a subculture of those who would follow the dark god of Mu, who's name is not spoken or even known except by the most highly ranked clerics. Instead, the dark god is referred to as Mu, the continent from which he draws his power and protects his people.

The Lacerta became discontent, and problems occurred that had never been dealt with before. There arose a cult, that preached to the common folks a need to infiltrate mankind and learn about them, so that they could be conquered and enslaved. Many were trained to impersonate humans, and move among them. But the Technocracy was strong, with power over every force of nature, and even telepathic powers, which proved difficult for the Cult to overcome or even avoid. Still, the Technocracy dared not enter into any direct confrontation, for fear that there would be a division in the race. So they simply intervened where they could and to the extent that it would not cause too much dissention.

This was all in vain, as the cult was bent on causing the rift that the technocracy so wished to prevent. And when humanity learned of these plans being laid out against them, their fear and hatred for the Lacerta grew terrible. Soon, war was all there was to talk about in Atlantis was war between the Lacerta and the rest of humanity. Humans knew nothing of the Lacerta, except that they were technologically advanced and reclusive. Their ability to look human allowed them to avoid xenophobia, but not fear. Ultimately it would be fear that would cause an uprising in Atlantis.
