The Karland
The Karland (Bruil 12, 8784 - )is a Fourth Age Imrhys man. He is one of the most educated beings on the Achar, having many doctorates in many subjects from many different universities. He is the ruler of the island nation of Kilian.

History
As with all Imrhys, the Karland has lived a very long time. While many of the events of his life have been recorded, there are still many that have yet to be recorded.
The Fourth Age (7501-10,000 AI)
Early Life
Arthur, the boy who would become the Karland, was born on Bruil 12, 8784, outside of Kerwin, Kilian. He was the eldest son of a farming family. It quickly became clear that Arthur was not going to be a farmer. He quickly outstripped his school mates and many of his teachers by the time he was ten.
The University of Olaf
Arthur attended the University of Olaf in Kerwin, Kilian, from 8800 AI to 8804 AI. He majored in Physics.
Awakening
The events surrounding the Karland's Awakening is as yet unknown.
The University of Rado
In 8820 AI, Arthur, now being called the Karland, attended the University of Rado. He received the first of his many doctorates from the University, the first being in Physics.
It was at the University that the Karland befriended Ambrosius, Zierath, Dykstra, Mik'l, Cind'ee, and many others.
The Karland spent many years traveling the Achar and attending various colleges and universities to continue his learning.
He does spend a significant stretch of time back in Kilian, where various of his Imrhys friends come to visit him.
Exploration
In late 8966, the Karlandre-united with his early life friends Ambrosius, Dykstra, Zierath, and Dan'l took a voyage around the continent of Seefell. The voyage lasts 20 years.
When the complete their voyage, everyone returns to their respective homelands.
Scottish Rebels
While they were away, the Scottish continent, under nominal control of the Second Age Imrhys Ylvisaker, has become a corrupt and extremely racist country. Zierath, under the guise of the Scottsman, and Ambrosius led a rebellion to get Ylvisaker's attention. It worked a little too well, and it took the Karland and Dysktra getting involved to broker a peace accord. On A Day Between Years 0, 9001, Ylvisaker met with Ambrosius and Zierath. They discuss many things, and they bring in many witnesses and victims. Ylvisaker’s eyes are opened.
Ylvisaker’s racist generals attempt a coup, which is quickly overcome by the Imrhys and several officers and soldiers.
The Karland served on the Ylvisaker Advisory board for many years.
The Pericales Dictatorship and Jordan
In 9177 AI, Annie had a Boding Time Sense about events on a continent far to the east. She foresaw great danger if she and a group of Imrhys did not travel and deal with the danger. The Karland was among those who travelled with her. Ylvisaker does not want his nobles to go. They go anyway, starting a major rift between the older Imrhys and the younger Fourth Age Imrhys.
Once on the continent of South Loyalund, the western Imrhys meet Dougiano and Sherismith, two Imrhys who were trying to help free the area from the grasp of the Pericales Dictatorship.They soon discover that the Pericales Dictatorship is backed by a rogue Second Age Imrhys named Warez.
Following Annie's Boding sense, the Karland helped find the proto-Imrhys Jordan. The Karland then embedded himself into Jordan's life, becoming a mentor and friend for the young prince.
The Karland also insinuated himself into the culture of Watroo, the neighboring kingdom, who were also having trouble with the Pericales Dictatorship. The Karland brokered a deal between the two kingdoms with the betrothal of Jordan and the Princess of Watroo, Heatra. He was unaware, however, that brokering a marriage was a cultural taboo, and the Karland was banished from both groups. He went to live with the elves at Kawzeerath Castle.
Eventually, Pericales invaded both Watroo and Dekra, and the Karland was re-united with Jordan and Heatra. Upon the death of Pericales and the crowning of Jordan as the Emporer of the Jordanian Empire, the Karland officiated at Heatra and Jordan's wedding.
The Fifth Age (10,001-12,500 AI)
The Third Gnarrhys War
The Karland's role in the Third Gnarrhys War is largely unrecorded, although it is known he managed to keep several invading Dathrhys Lords off of Kilian.
The last major battle on Scottlund takes place on the eastern shore of the continent, near the city of Neverman on Ronolom 12, 10,085. The Zierathan Alliance Army - including Zierath, the Karland, Dykstra, Melissa, Annie, Smehren, Kunce, Bruno, Bresky, Ambrosius - attack the Goth Vampires. The Goths and their allies lose and attempt to flee, only to be blocked by the navy - including Mik'l, Dav'd, Dan'l, Pet'r, Laurstra, Faux, Tamara, Jystad, Paul Black, Maz, Larsen, Olaf, Olson, Doudna. Even the appearance of Savoron, the Knife Thrower, does not save the Goths. Larsen, Olaf, Doudna, and Zierath, using the Items of Light, drive it off. About fifty of the Goths escape, including Nights'maron.
The Zierathan Alliance
When Savaron is finally defeated, the Karland and his fellow Imrhys banded together to create a better society on the ruins of the one left. Calling the western section of the continent Zierathdom, Zierath started to rule and designed a constitution - with the help of his fellow Imrhys and a delegation of sentients from the area. They created a monarchist republic with checks and balances to keep everyone at peace with each other.
On Bruil 1, 10087, Zierath, Ambrosius, the Karland, Mik'l, Cind'ee, Annie, Dan'l, Melissa, and Dykstra form the Zierathan Alliance. It started out on the western seaboard of the Scottish Continent. Within a few years, with the aid of Ambrosius, the Alliance spread to the eastern seaboard. The countries on the continent of Gimlund, now led by Imrhys friends, joined as well.
Zierath decided not to make his capital in Neverman where Ylvisaker had his, but, drawing on his knowledge of architecture and city planning he developed with Creon Bochs, started to design his own capital city and castle. He chose a rolling plain in between two rivers at the edge of the Forest of Zierath. He and the Karland finished the designs of Caslte Zierath, both the building and the city. They added in the massive niurb trees as well.
The Jordanian Civil War (12,004-12,010)
In 12,002 AI, After years with no word from Jordan, Zierath sends Laurstra to found out what has happened. Laurstra's ship is nearly sunk as she speeds away. Zierath leaves Maz and Ambrosius in charge of the Alliance while he and many of allies head to South Loyalund. Once there, they discover that Jordan had disappeared, and his descendents Aeole and Dore were warring over who would lead the empire, and their old foe Warez was back, egging both on and making a grab for power himself.
While Dan'l, Jen of the Hylands, and Laurstra followed Aeole, and Annie, Kunce, and Smehren hounded Dore, Zierath, the Karland, Bresky, Dougiano, Sherismith, and Dykstra tracked down Warez. They chased him up deep into North Loyalund, finally battling him in Atteny. Desperate, Warez allowed himself to be possessed by Jahn-Crant, a Type Three Gnarrhys. The six Imrhys seal the possessed Warez into a mountain, locking him in with the six Keys of Warez.
The six Imrhys then hide the six Keys of Warez, knowing at some point others would have strengthen the seal on Warez's prison.
The Sixth Age (12,501-15,000 AI)
The Fourth Gnarrhys War (13,706-13,710 AI)
The Karland was the Speaker of the Senate when Zierath called for a Time of Emergency for the Fourth Gnarrhys War. As such, he remained behind at Castle Zierath when a majority of the Imrhys left, including Zierath. Annie, the Karland's co-temporary ruler, did not want the responsibility, and sent a sizeable chunk of her forces after Zierath. The Annie Sybyl, Solnak, managed to capture the elusive Zierath, but, with the aid of loyal soldiers, escaped again. Solnak was turned back over to the Karland.
Annie continued to issue ultimatums when the Karland had had enough. He demanded that she grow up or lose the position. Surprisingly, the queen took the advice well.
On Santil 14, 13708, Ambrosius, the Karland, Annie, and Smehren are attacked by possessed summoned by the Friggurnaut. Smehren discovers that he can slice through the Gnarrhys stuff and free the sentient without wounding them.
On Santil 16, 13708, Smehren, the Karland, Ambrosius, and Mar'ee face the Friggurnaut beneath the city. Smehren is nearly possessed, but Mar'ee is able to free him. With Mar'ee also able to slice, they send Smehren to the front to teach the technique.
The Karland, Ambrosius, Jos'f, Mar'ee, and Annie tracked the Friggurnaut to the Foundary, where the Friggurnaut and the frigs had been feeding on the iron stock. Though battered, bruised, and broken, the Imrhys and their allies manage to drive the Friggurnaut away.
The Seventh Age (15,001-17,500 AI)
The Karland's activities during the Seventh Age have not been recorded.
The Eighth Age (17,501-20,000)
The Karland's activities during the Eighth Age have not been recorded.
The Fifth Gnarrhys War (18829-)
The Karland was involved in the re-sealing of the Father into the Achar.
The Future
The Karland survived the Fifth Gnarrhys War, and is still a major character in the world.
