History: For reasons unknown, the Clockwork King created this giant automaton and loosed it upon Boomtown. Babbage seems chiefly interested in collecting metal scrap for its King, though it also fervently defends its territory from any hero incursions.

Point.Blank, Experiment 2.0, and Obsidian Omega ran across a warehouse where Babbage was recuperating from a battle with various heroes. They battled the monstrous machine and, with the aid of Quickstrike and Dr. Radfire, barely escaped it.

It quickly healed and followed a receiver to the Steel Canyon Medical Center. There it battled Obsidian Omega, Point.Blank, Experiment 2.0, and Quickstrike again, along with Railbird, 9 Red Dogs, and Elumien. It was mired down by Obsidian Omega and captured.

The Clockwork King made multiple versions of Babbage at one point and led them into Steel Canyon and attacked the Whitmoore. These lesser copies were easily destroyed by the assembled heroes.

The main Babbage unit has since rebuilt itself, escaped, and terrorizes Boomtown and Skyway again.

History: Back Burner is an expert arsonist. He rose in the ranks of the Hellions as one of the Damned, but outstripped their abilities and took his own name. He is still high up in their ranks, but now works on his own.

Detective Frost led a group of heroes against Back Burner hoping to bring the Hellion in. Artemis 2020 shot him, and he was nearly captured. Tyreesia, an agent for an unknown faction of Arachnos, rescued Back Burner before he was sent to the Zigg.

Back Burner will go out of his way to get either Detective Frost or Artemis 2020.

History: Bain has a PhD in Computer A Mercenary for hire. He was originally hired by Crystal Stone. He is a trained sniper and very skilled with stalking targets. Crystal had him augmented with nano- tech that allows him to manipulate fire for movement and other special uses. While in training, he saw Liz Stone/Pink Dragon and was warned against pursuing her.

Bain was hired by Paragon University as the Technical Support Supervisor. He became one of the University's most ardent protectors as a sniper.

After Crystal was killed by Crey Industries, Liz Stone/Pink Dragon was sent to him. Bain and Liz have a love/hate relationship. On various occasions, they have attempted to kill each other and then will have sex.

History: She was exiled during civil unrest following deposition of "Baby Doc" Duvalier. Subject took a bullet to right temple - it is surmised that some brain damage resulted, although she was not killed by the shot. The bullet hole is now covered by a steel plate. She believes herself to be the next appointed Queen of a reformed Haiti.

She came to Paragon City, but was arrested for assault and battery with a deadly spell. She was sent to the Zigguraut Prison. While there, she was cellmates with the Dirty Blond.

She escaped from the Zig when a full-scale Arachnos attack freed many of the villains incarcerated there. She got lodging at the Blakmoore Safehouse.

After she left the Blakmoore, one of the officers of the Crimson Dawn. She was 'turned' to vampirism by Dark Goddess, one of the senior officers of the Crimson Dawn, and is now the companion of both her and Red Eclipse, Empress Mother of the Dawn.

History: Matthew J. Bartholomew is the son of Mr. David Bartholomew, the owner of Bartholomew industries in England, the largest Cybernetics Company in England and an unnamed actress. His parents split up on Christmas Day, and he now dreads Christmas. He was alway shy, especially around women.

Against his father's wishes, Matthew is attending Paragon University. His father wanted him to attend an English university and come to work at Bartholomew Industries. His friend and partner Sparky joined him in in America.

Matthew has significant interest in Parapsychology He and Sparky started trying to find a way to capture spiritual energy and started an independent study towards that end. He was a student of both Dr. Clemmons/Sol-Ar and Angela Barstow/Sibling.

He developed a serious crush on Dani Jones, aka Winter Kills. He joined a study group with her, and found himself embroiled in a fight against a group of Hellions. During the fight, Mona Jones, Dani's mother, threw a pot of coffee in one of the Hellion's face and the splash got Matthew in the face, too. Matt picked up the name 'Coffee Boy,' much to his chagrin.

Matt also became friends wtih Amrien and Earthsuit, although he did become quite jealous when Dani and Earthsuit went out on a date. He did go to a party with Aleslia, and was mortified when he discovered he had asked to go out on a date with a woman who was dating someone else.

History: Big Axel and Inferno Glory had been good buddies even before they had gotten their powers.

They rescued some WWII historians from the 5th Column using very brutal tactics. Chiri Gami Gohei Otogizoushi saw the results of the fight and was convinced that the heroes of Paragon City were monsters.

Chiri fought and defeated both heroes and sent them deep into comas. When Axel recovered, he had lost his axe and never tried to help anyone ever again.

History: Randall Black is Caryn Hawke's partner in the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs. He is also secretly working with Dante Andersen to reform a secret private espionage group called "The Pawn Shop", in which he and Dante had worked together in the past. Dante is funding these efforts by siphoning hidden Arachnos slush funds that Dante hacked into. Dante and Randall are looking at John Bain as the first person to recruit into this new version of "The Pawn Shop".

Black and Hawke were assigned to investigate an explosion in the Reeve Theater on the Paragon University campus.

History: Blue Steel was an original member of the Regulators with Back Alley Brawler.

So the commissioner called in a number of favors with local heroes, including the former policeman Blue Steel , and a city-wide manhunt was undertaken.

The Sprockets were eventually tracked down to an abandoned warehouse, where a major assembly line production seemed underway. There were dozens of Sprockets attempting to construct scores more of their kind. Blue Steel scouted ahead and reportedly saw a young, disheveled man overseeing the operations.

When the combined task force of heroes and police raided the warehouse, all hell broke loose. In the firefight that ensued, several propane tanks were ignited and the warehouse caught fire. The robots fought on, ignoring the flames. When the heroes and SWAT Team finally broke their ranks, it appeared that a number had escaped, including the young man. Tragically, three officers were killed in the fight and fire.

Blue Steel chased after the robots, ranging far ahead of his fellow heroes and the SWAT Team. The young man was carried through the sewers by a half dozen robots, and finally reached a “safe house,” a decrepit bungalow in Boomtown. When Blue Steel radioed back to the commissioner, he learned of the officer casualties … and a fury exploded within him. He launched himself into the bungalow.

The young man was too disoriented from the early encounter, hurt by smoke and fatigue, and could not coordinate a proper defense. Blue Steel single-handedly smashed the Sprockets to pieces, and then turned his rage upon the man, beating him into a bloody pulp. Blue Steel collapsed, exhausted and spent. He checked on the man, and felt the bile rise when he realized the man was dead. Disgusted with himself and the whole day’s tragedy, Blue Steel radioed in for the coroner and clean-up crew. With a heavy heart he left to help fight the fire. The pieces could be sorted out later.

Thus there were no witnesses to whatever happened next. When Blue Steel returned later, the emergency crew was cleaning up the debris. There was sign of the scuffle, but none of the Sprockets were there, and the body of the young man was gone. The Clockwork had collected them both, and had gone to and created the Clockwork King.

After the Rikti Invasion, a reporter for the Paragon Times, Maggie Greene, who had followed stories of the Sprockets before the war grew concerned. As no one coordinating the relief effort seemed to know anything about them, she took it upon herself to follow a group of Sprockets. Over several days, they finally led her to an abandoned factory, where she discovered an assembly-line production.

Blue Steel and the Regulators, were alarmed by Greene’s report. They quickly gathered and scouted out the factory. Whatever peaceful intentions the Sprockets were displaying quickly vanished into an aggressive defense of their territory. The Regulators barely escaped with their lives, but now the city knew the Clockwork meant them harm.

Blue Steel has brought in Tub Ci, but the charges did not stick. He has had some sharp words for Kid Valor. He does not like Judge Wonker, but can't get any proof of wrong-doing. He knows and does not like Newton's Apple. He and Detective Frost have worked together.

History: Bonz was a student at Paragon University. He was a football star. He is one of the synchopants of Erik Gregory Winslow. As well as a formidable athlete, he is also a computer expert. He set up a computer system that recorded all of the elicit events that Winslow and his four syncophants did. He recorded all of the drugged assaults, made dvds of them, and sold them over the internet.

He was one of the college students that SteelDragon attacked when they were trying to assault a co-ed.

Bonz was arrested and sent to the Zigg, but Winslow broke him out.

History: Dr. Brinnell is one of Hyper-Man's contacts. He had gave her a strange and foreighn book called the Book of Ajauntis that had been used in the ritual for Thunder Girl. She sent it over to MAGI for further investigation and had been waiting for a call.

He later took Tisifone Babel/Blue to her.

History: A stooped-shouldered black man in his 40s, bald, with a misshapen nose and jaw of granite, dressed in the uniform of a Marine Gunnery Sergeant Major. Maxwell Croniger had saved his life when his parachute had snarled in the forest canopy during a training exercise at Camp Lejeune in 1985, climbing the 60’ up to lower his broken body to the ground before his ‘chute tore loose. They’d maintained contact over the years, and Max had helped him buy a diner and settle down in Paragon after he did his 20.

Ike is the owner of the Tastee Diner. He is a former Marine and has a friend to the Jones family (Mona and her daughter Danielle/Winter Kills) for many years.

History: Mother of Eric Browning/Vengent. Her husband was reported as dead and incinerated.

Alicia and Vengent have discovered that his father was not killed, but turned into Paragon Protector.

History: Police Detective who was in charge of the Paragon Stalker investigation. He questioned Dark Harrier about the death of one of Oscar's crew who the Stalker had killed.

When it was revealed to him that the Paragon Stalker had been taken to Hell, and that the Shadow Marshall now had his body, he was able to put the Paragon Stalker case behind him. He told the Dark Harrier he expected to get a promotion out of the deal.
