History: Ishtara always had power flowing
through her. An old woman, whom she called Mamasita,
started training Ishtara in controlling her power.
As a teen, she ran away and lived in Perez Park, got hooked on drugs and joined a coven. The pusher and the leader of her coven was Ash.
She befriended another girl who could interpret dreams,
Rachel. She and Rachel became lovers in addition to partners. Ishtara left under un-disclosed circumstances, but Ash threatened to kill her if she ever returned. When Ishtara left, Ishtara begged Rachel to come with her, but Rachel stayed with Ash.
A couple years later, Ishtara moved into the Whitmoore
Apartment. While happy with the size of the room, she was
dismayed at the lack of furniture. Using her gravity warp
ability, she summoned a great number of items, including
a forklift, to the apartment. She did finally get a couch.
When she left
the apartment, the forklift
received a message from Babbage
to report to King's Row.
Her first mission was in King's Row. She was supposed to
track down who had stolen a forklift. She recognized the
serial numbers as the forklift in her apartment. As she
returned to the Whitmoore, the forklift made its way out
of her apartment, and it
worked its way out of the building, running over Ishtara
as it did. Ishtara and Quickstrike
chased the forklift down, and found it amongst a large group
of Clockwork. The forklift returned itself eventually, and
Ishtara's first job was classified as a failure.
She met the
heroes Shadow
Marshall and Necronus,
and Necronus's pet Clockwork Tick
Tok. Ishtara took a liking to Shadow Marshall and an
intense dislike to Tick Tok.
The Whitmoore
was attacked by the Clockwork
King, and she witnessed Necronus being torn in half
by the arch villain.
Nicholas Dent
was one of the heroes who was at the attack, but several
Outcasts had tried to kill him earlier in the day. He wanted
to find out who had put a hit out on him. He went to the
Hellion bar the Flaming Moe, and some of the heroes, including
the Dark Harrier
and Shadow Marshall followed him. Ishtara went along to,
more to party than to do detective work. When a group of
Hellions attacked Dent, she and the other heroes, including
Tick Tok, defeated them soundly. Two other things happened
during the fight. Shadow Marshall was knocked out and his
body returned control over to the Paragon Stalker, and the
dead Necronus re-appeared alive but distracted on the dance
floor.
The next day, the ghostly Shadow Marshall had gained enough
strength to enter Ishtara's dream. He showed her the brutal
killings done by David, including a warning saying she may
be number 13. Ishtara awoke, and decided that talking to
Shadow Marshall would be the right course of action. Her questioning made the Paragon Stalker a little nervous, and he began to plan her demise. The two of them go shoot some pool to calm Ishtara's nerves.
The Stalker was 'playing' with Ishtara, trying to lull her into complete relaxation to fully betray her and to see it in her eyes as he killed her, but she received a mental call from Elumien, and they hurried back to the Whitmoore.
When they got back, Ishtara was taken into a room with Elumien, but the Stalker figured out he was found out when confronted by Nick Dent. Ishtara went to help Nick, but the Stalker took her hostage. Elumien and his ally Stryk burst in, and with that distraction, Ishtara was able to teleport away, still receiving a gash on her cheek. Using her dark tendrils, she bound the Stalker into place, and Stryk was able to overpower the Stalker both body and soul. Stryk took the Stalker's soul to hell, and the Shadow Marshall was put back into the body.
Ishtara and Alex were taken to the hospital, picking up Sgt. Gevin Riley of Metaforces and Stryk as well. They ended up at a diner, and Ishtara left to go back to the Whitmoore.
Ishtara took Alex the Shadow Marshall to see Rachel in Founder's Falls. She and Rachel had another falling out in which Rachel begged her to come back to the coven. Ishtara refused, and fled back to the Whitmoore with Alex, catching the tail end of a 5th Column attack on the Whitmoore.
When Dent came and told him that Stryk had gone rogue, Alex went off on a mission with Nicholas Dent, Ishtara, Straight Jacket, and Slugbug to bring him in. They returned to the warehouse where Dent had fought Stryk, but the rogue was long gone.
Tick-Tok tracked down Dent, Ishtara, and the Shadow Marshall to let them know that Dent's mentor Elumien was missing. |
